Selected for the Lumen Prize

In early December 2014, Lumen Prize opened its second NYC show in the beautiful Auditorium on Broadway in partnership with Lumen’s NY host, the New York Institute of Technology. The show was curated by NYIT MA Fine Art students as part of NYIT Professor Ann Aptaker’s course in Exhibition Design, incorporating a 250-seat cinema to screen the Lumen works as well as the exhibition space itself. The show also featured a seminar on Digital Art at the School of Visual Art in NYC, hosted by Jury Panel Member Bruce Wands which can be viewed here

“I’m seeing renewed interest in digital art as a leading form of contemporary art, with Lumen playing a key role globally in support of that interest.”

Bruce Wands, Chair, MFA Computer Art, School of Visual Art, NYC & Jury Panel Member

“The opportunities Lumen creates to cross boundaries, both conceptual and literal, are enormous. We are only just beginning to explore the space created for digitally-created work beyond the usual art hegemonies.”

Jonathan Kearney, Post-graduate Programme Director, UAL, Camberwell College of Art, London.
